Since approx. 1400, the people in present-day Kenya have known about the art of roasting coffee. In contrast, the origin of the name “coffee” is less clear: Some say “Kaffa” – an Ethiopian port city, others say it is "qahwah", the Arab word for wine. We tend toward the latter: Even in Kenya, with only 6% Muslims, in the national language of Kiswahili, coffee sounds like it has been called out directly by the Muezzin "kahawa".
